Welcome Vikings fans! The time for action is now! In the 2008 season the Minnesota Vikings were ranked dead last in revenue. In 2011 the Vikings contract with the Metrodome will expire, meaning the NFL and/or ownership has every right to move the team to another city.

I know what you’re thinking: the Vikings are an institution, they are one of the oldest teams in the NFL, and they have a legacy in Minnesota. Well folks, so did the Lakers and the North Stars. In the early 90’s Minnesota didn’t want to invest 20 million in renovating the Met Center. The result was Norm Green moving the team and leaving the state of hockey without its team for 7+ years. Only after spending hundreds of millions of dollars were we able to get an arena and an NHL franchise back in Minnesota.

We have seen the NFL do this before. Houston, Cleveland and Baltimore are all cities where the NFL has taken a team to only return later to award one back. If we let the Vikings go now, the cost of a new stadium and a new team would be well over a billion dollars.

With ownership willing to contribute and things winding down with the Gophers and Twins stadium, there will never be a more cost effective time to build a new stadium.

The time to act is now in order to save our beloved Minnesota Vikings!

Our goal is to bolster support for the stadium push and educate people on why it is critical to keep the team here in Minnesota.

The Twins have a stadium today because their fans stood up and made a lot of noise. We need to stand up and shout at our Governor, Senate and House representatives. We need to demand that they, along with the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, work with the Vikings.

  • Opposition says we are in a recession and can’t afford it. The fans say we need to create jobs and building a new stadium creates thousands of contract opportunities and thousands more permanent jobs. The citizens of Minnesota need those jobs.
  • Opposition says we can’t spend the money. The fan’s say we will lose more money when 20+ million in tax base is lost every year we don’t have a team. Not to mention, the economic impact on the downtown area from team’s staying in hotels, visitors to Minnesota for the games, people going out to bars and restaurants before and after games.
  • Opposition says we already have a stadium. The fan’s say it is old, outdated, unsophisticated and incapable of generating revenue to support a long term successful NFL franchise.

Here is where you come in, join the cause!
